Paramus Environmental Commission Hosts Paramus Earth Day Celebration 2015

The Paramus Environmental Commission hosted the Paramus Earth Day celebration on April 19th, 2015.

The weather cooperated. It was a beautiful Spring day. The library grounds were impeccably groomed.

The band shell provided the perfect backdrop for the featured musical performer, Tom Chapin and Friends.

Festivities began at 12 pm with a rousing rendition the Star Spangled Banner performed by L.Cyre' Rodriquez. She also provided an informative historical narrative describing local Indian culture.

Approximately twenty five exhibitors were on hand to present information about various environmental issues and their products.

Food trucks provided refreshments for sale. Our friends from the local Starbucks provided us with free coffee.

Rounding out the entertainment, Joe D'Urso performed a great set of music.

The event was well attended. The crowd was estimated at one thousand attendees.

Local dignitaries including our mayor, Rich LaBarbiera, members of the council and our newly minted County Executive, James J. Tedesco, "rubbed elbows" with the crowd. They were ably introduced by Environmental Commission chair, Anita Diamantes.

Vice chairperson Gerald Anthony spoke about Earth Days past and "work yet to do".

It was a day to be remembered!

The Environmental Commission wishes to thank Len Lopinto, the library staff, all of our vendors and exhibitors, the Paramus DPW, Police Department and Fire Department for their efforts in making the 2015 Earth Day Celebration successful.
