2014 PARAMUS SCHOOLS RECYCLING BAG CONTEST

The Paramus Environmental Commission has established an initiative in town to reduce the amount of disposable plastic bags used by consumers. Our timing is perfect since recently the Bergen Record has had articles related to reusable bags and pending legislation requiring merchants to charge a fee for bags.

We asked students from the Paramus school district to participate in a contest to draw a picture to be placed on a reusable shopping bag. The picture design should be related to environmental protection and the three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle. Our goal is not only to reduce the use of plastic shopping bags but also to bring awareness to the community of what the Paramus Environmental Commission's website has to offer.
